Re: vetrified tiles
I am also looking at tiles in various price ranges
My basic understanding on vitrified tiles is:
Soluble salt - basic print of patterns on tiles. Lower range. Suitable for low traffic areas. Mostly used in apartments. Not much choice for texture designs but lasts long as the texture itself is minimal.
Matte/Satin finish- Anti skid if you care about it. More expensive than equivalent glossy finish and has a rough finish. May be more difficult to maintain than glossy as it is not scratch proof like Nano tiles and can accumulate dust due to rough surface?
Nano: makes it scratch and stain proof. Nano does not apply to Matte tiles but only glazed tiles including digitally glazed tiles. AFIK, soluble salt tiles are not nano. Nano tiles are always glossy and hence not anti skid.
Double charged: provides a thicker layer of patterns. It does not apply to digital tiles, AFIK
Our thought process was:
- Needed anti skid for ground floor which had kitchen/dining and parents bed rooms
- Needed easy maintenance and great look and feel for first floor.
- Needed basic tiles for second floor which will be rented
We chose:
- For GF, we are going for Matte tiles and wooden flooring. We found NITCO (Arezzo) Matte tiles to be the best option. Price was 82 Rs per sq feet for our choice.
- We are going in for Kajaria glossy nano digital tiles with marble design (Breccia Merfil) for First floor. Price was around 99 Rs/sq feet. They look good and are apparently easy to maintain- but glossiness may fade over time if used in heavy traffic area.
- For second floor we are going for basic range of NITCO tiles (Capri). Price around 54 Rs per sq feet. I believe these are soluble salt tiles. Designs are basic but last long.
During our research, we primarily stuck to branded tiles as per architects advice. Mainly Kajaria, NITCO and RAK. We are buying Cengres tiles for skirting as our color choice (dark brown) was not available in branded tiles for skirting.
I am ordering from JP Sanitation in Mysore road near KR Market as their rates seemed good.
PS: My experience with JP sanitation was great overall expcept for a bad experience with a Carysil sink. So I am downgrading the recommendation to good from great.

Re: vetrified tiles
Hi,
I am getting a quote of Rs. 51 for kajaria Soluble Salt Glossy vitrified tiles in a shop on sarjapur road. All models between k6000 to K6019 are in this range. All bathroom and kitchen tiles are quoted at Rs 45\- flat. The brands are Roca\Favorite and few others whose name i cant remember. Is this good price ?
I am looking for the basic models in good brands for a rental house.
Thnx

Re: vetrified tiles
Hi All,
I was looking for vetrified tiles for my house . Initally, I selected Kajaria K6201 for flooring but then after reading different reviews on different forums gave a second thought and finally booked RAK white tiles which is 1mtr x 1mtr. Experienced engineer suggested instead of 2x2, 1mtx1mt are best but need to take care during laying.
The RAK brand would cost anything between 110 -180. Luckly I got a good deal at south india ceramics on bannergata road.
For bathroom tiles it would cost anything from 40 - 200 depending on the type . Some shops charge extra for highliters and I don't think thats correct.
We saw some good designs on http://www.qutoneceramic.com/ and price lesser and comparable to Kajaria. But we did not want to take a chance and went for RAK though the price is higher compared to others.
