Terrace roof slab

Post by sahu.mgse »

Dear Forum Members;
Shortly i am going for final roof (terrace roof) slab by manual mixing. I have following questions.

1. Can we follow the same Mixture ratio (1:2:4) or different for this slab.

2. I have about 900-1000 sft area and slab thick 5inch. What is quantity of water proofing compound required for this.

3. Water proofing compound to be added now with RCC concrete or during flooring finish?

4. How to take care of heat load in rooms below this roof. What is weather proof course? when to be done and what is the thickness. I may go for Roof terrace with cement muddy finish.

5. Any other points which are not appeared here to be taken care.

Your Reply will be very useful.

regards

Roff water proof liquid. you get it in all H/W stores. green color plastic container
50ml/50kg cement I think, it is mentioned on the container. you will have it mix it with water first and then use that water for concert mix

Decide which side rain water should flow - if you are doing rain water harvesting, then ensure all water flow to one side of the building, may be two or three drain pipe and comes to sump after filtering

you get clay tiles which you can lay on concert but after concert is set. this you can do after wall plastering - this will give some amount of heat insulation. over this tile you can apply dr. fixit paint to get further water proofing. if you are doing this then there is no need of cement muddy finish

Thank you mahesh for reply.

Any brand name for water proof liquid can be used along-with slab mould.

Due to cost reduction i am planning for cement muddy finish. Can i apply Dr fixit over this. need clarification.

I used Dr. Fixit for ground floor and FOSROC for the first floor roof slabs. It comes in 5L bottle and costs about Rs 700/- (don't remember the exact amount). Mode of usage is clearly mentioned. I think about 50ml for 10 liter of water (something like that).

what is the exact procedure for terrace flooring -- weather & water proofing & finishing?

Is this the procedure or there are other options?
1) PCC with water proofing compound
2) water proof coat (fosroc brushbond)
3) then surkhi (brickbats, sand, cement with water roof solution)

I am looking at a structure made of MS rods with Mangalore tiles on my terrace. The tiles will be required to cover an area of approx 60' long & 3' deep (basically along some part of the perimeter of the terrace). What would be the budget I can expect for this project:
a) MS rods quantity & cost
b) Mangalore tiles # & cost

Any other material in place of Mangalore tiles with the same look - for eg. red plastic tiles?
