Fabrication Cost

Post by pruthvi98 »

I am in the process of finishing my House construction, its a G floor independent + 1&2 duplex house. I was finalizing on the MS fabrication with my Engineer hence thought that i would get some tips before finalizing the Cost . I have been given an estimate of Rs 200 per S.Ft, which involves installation at site including all welding activities etc. Primer and Paint excluded. The following is the break up of activities in Fabrication.
1. MS Gate 15ft X 5ft Height
2. Security Grill in ground floor utility
3. Hinged opening cover for Sump Tank
4. Staircase railing from G Floor to terrace with 2 nos of 16MM Square rod as vertical support for each step and a 2"X 3" rectangular rail.
5. Balcony Railings 1st floor
6. 1st floor utility Security grill.
7. Balcony Railings 2nd floor
8. Structure for a glass bridge to connect between the East portion and West portion of the house in 2nd floor as the Living room is a double height and is in the middle of the plot.
9. MS Steel security door for the Terrace
10. Cloth Hangers on Terrace
11. Rail on the parapet wall of the terrace.

Is this cost a competitive one for the Quantum of work which i have Described. Please reply back with any of your Queries or Suggestions

Now-a-days in Bangalore its hard to find fabricators who charge in Kg's.

pruthvi98-
Per sqft depends on the design and material you opt.
For a normal design of railing/safety grill cost should be around 130/sqft.
For the quantum of work you are having 200/- is on the higher end ( again it depends on guage, design and workmanship).

PRUTHVI, I CAN SEE YOUR ENGINEER TAKING YOU FOR A JOLLY RIDE. FABRICATION COST DIFFERENT FOR : GRILLS , RAILINGS AND MAIN GATE. GRILLS AND RAILINGS IT IS 110 - 120 PER SFT. MAIN GATE FOR A GOOD GUAGE (16)IS RS. 300 , NORMAL GUAGE (18) IS RS. 200. YOUR SFT FOR MAIN GATE WILL BE VERY LESS COMPARED TO OTHER ITEMS HENCE YOU ARE PAYING DOUBLE RATE FOR OTHER ITEMS. IF YOU HAVE THE OPTION DO YOUR OWN FABRICATION SEPRATELY WITH FABRICATOR AND DONT GO FOR ENGINEER . TAKE ONLY DESIGN FROM ENGINEER (ONLY IF HE IS THAT GOOD)..

Hi Rajesh,
Is your work complete? can you please tell us how much did it cost? Say your gate was 30sqft, how much of MS was consumed and what was the price? also how much did it cost for the safety grills? This information will help a lot of us.

Finally, i gave the following MS work to a fabricator who has a big factory in KR Puram. I had enquired with 4-5 fabricators before i went ahead with this guy.
He has just started his work at site. So can't really comment on the quality of his work as yet, but rates were the best and the guy is genuine (till date).
MS Roof (16gauge) - Rs 270/- psft (double sided tiles). I supply the Ceiling and roofing Tiles. Single Sided MS roof was cheaper but i preferred this.
Safety Railing- Rs 140/- psft
MS safety doors - rs 250/- psft
Staircase- Rs 35000/- (including platform and Railings)
Please let me know if the quotes are fine? in case you need his contacts, please send a pm. And anyone wanting to have a look at the work is most welcome near my site :-), Kalkere Channasandra.
