Safety Locker

Post by Dreamhome »

Hi Experts,

Could any recommend a good locker that could be used for home? I have 2 brands in my mind Godrej or Iqip. In home town Iqip product costing 40k is available for 20k which has many features like alarm, inside battery, key + digital lock and etc.
On other hand Indian well known company Godrej with 2 manual lock. Both are of 75-80KG
Please suggest me to go further.

The best locker is in the bank.

The at home lockers you described get unwanted attention and is best avoided. It is probably a lot safer to keep something in the kitchen than a digital locker in the bedroom

^^ I second that. It's not worth to spend money on these fancy security items. Get the lockers at your nearest bank and leave everything to them.

In my opinion, you can keep 80% of valuables in a bank locker but you need a locker at home for the remaining 20% that you will have to use. Like Cash, everyday use jewellery, and to temporarily store valuables after taking out of Bank locker for use.

I think the problem of locker at home has two aspects to it:
1) How to conceal the locker so that a thief won't even know that a locker exists?
2) How to ensure that the locker is fixed. This is important because though the locker is not openable, the thief might carry the locker with him and run.

I don't know the answers to these Qs. Anyone knowledgeable, please share. Do we have to plan to embed the locker somewhere during construction phase itself (to make it fixed and concealed)?

if you get it done during construction - to ensure it is fixed in, no matter what design you have for concealing it, there are multitude of people already with the knowledge of the concealment. Such information tends to spread quickly.

These lockers are fixed onto the floor. The fasteners are not accessible without opening the locker. The locker itself is very heavy. So a thief cannot run away with it if the locker is of decent size.

Except that it increases the risk of someone breaking into your house and holding you at knife point. The cost vs benefit doesn't add up in favour of in house lockers.

Hi
Go for godrej ,iqip I am not sure how secured the lock is.godrej is the most trusted brand by merchants ,bankers, jwellery showrooms etc..The gauge of the steel is very important along with lock complexity.you can try a brand called 'Yale' is also godrej range.
Small or big locker is must in any house to keep the everyday jwellery/cash items safe from petty theIfs like servant maids .
Since no one use a metal almarah now a days it's very easy to open any woden wardrobe just by pulling it hard.

Try these brands in lockers godrej,Yale, ozone
