Can somebody tell me what is the measurement for rises and treads in a staircase ? For seven feet height ie from ground to lintel level what is the number of steps required ?
normally treads are 11" and risers are about 7-8". But you can make the risers smaller (and treads larger - if you have lot of horizontal space), but don'tmake more than that - it will make it very steep and difficult to climb. also, width should be at least 3' I have seen smaller ones, and those look difficult to maneuver.
Hi All, I am constructing a duplex house in north bangalore. need to do an internal staircase. Its an MS staircase with wooden cladding.
I need to know the fabrication cost per step.
Details:
3" (6mm thk M.S plate as side profile)
10" (6mm thk M S plate as tread)
wooden cladding on the MS plate tread
my contractor is quoting Rs.3,100 per step.(excluding the wooden cladding)
He says it requires 18kgs of steel per step.(?)
I urgently need a good fabricator (preferably in north bangalore) to take this forward. Any reference will help
Hi,
Why are using MS sheet ,its very costly and the weight will be more.Just use 'L' angles or MS strips since you are any way cladding with wood.
Make the fabrication detail little thinner with 'L' angles and what is the side supports for the stair?
Dear Praveen
Thanks for your reply. The base of the staircase also has support with MS pipe etc. I am looking to outsource this work. If you know any fabricator or contractor, can you please refer.
thanks.
A MS staircase, with treads and railings made of strips(ie, not sheet-type), for a 17 step, 3ft width, with 2x12ft 3" GI columns, plus 2x 3'x2' strip type MS Platform, worked out roughly to a 22k esimate for me, which would be around 1300/step......with no cladding.
This is a conventional 'straight' design MS staircase, to connect the 1st and 2nd Floors.
I'm yet to give my go-ahead nod, so at this time I cannot provide a reference, however if by next week you are still hunting for a contractor, my work should be completed and I could then give you more info.
Can you post the picture of the stairs.. I'm getting it done with HR square pipes for steps and 6 mm sheet for supporting its kind of floating stairs. with just support from the one side other side it will have hand rail.
For steps not decide as use laminate/ hardwood/ or plain plywood with veener.
