Hi,

What would be the advantages and disadvantages of constructing house using different options like
1. Mud bricks
2. Cement hollow blocks
3. Stones

It would be of great help if you can give comments based on cost of construction/longitivity of all the 3 options.

Note: I have 20X40 site and looking to construct G+2 floor building.

Thanks,
Jay

Hi Jay ,

As a preference, i prefer STONE first, then bricks and then cement blocks , as stones keeps the house warm during winter and cools during summer. But you need a skilled labours /contractor for this. Then I say brick because it is lesser in price compared with stone and stone fades after 8-10 yrs though you can paint but won’t look as earthy as left earlier. Not much diff b/w hollow blocks and hollow brick in terms of properties for a small house and it is little expensive.

I see some people using hollow core red bricks these days (presumably machine made?). How do these hollow core red bricks compare to the solid red bricks or concrete ones? Are these bricks designed for any special applications ?
