thanks Dreamhome, one quick question, your sump wall is 4" all around only or is there additional support you have given like brick?

Its 4" concrete Wall(Inner) all around and behind it (Outer) it's 4"inch APCO blocks wall.

Are you using submersible pump or a pump outside the sump? My builder is recommending submersible since it will be quieter and safety (difficult to steal).

Question to members here, i went for full concrete sump, my contractor finished flooring currently and to ensure they are placing 9" concrete on the sump floor, they placed 4 to 5 mud bricks (in standing position) and completed the process, i had told him while placing the bricks that they should remove it once they are sure that concrete is 9". But he didnt do it, when i asked him he lied stating they removed the brick and throw it away, but when i asked the laborer he mentioned it is still inside and also i verified as i didnt see any bricks which were covered in concerte around the construction site.
Now i feel, these 4 to 5 bricks placed are weak spots and leaking can happen from it. The entire effort of putting 9" concrete is waste, am i right? what are my options now?

I think that if they have left the clay briks in the floor, they may become the weak points for leaking. BTW, why did they use brick to measure the thickness/height of the concrete. Normally, they use a steel rod (10 mm or so) which is marked (bent) to the desired level. They insert these rods in the concrete to measure the height while pouring the concret.

we went with this option. We bought seconds tiles (white) and the entire sump is tiled. So even if (as Namburi states) that cleaning effort may be the same, we can see when the tank is dirty. It is quite obviously visible. I love that idea that was suggested by our foreman.

My sump is RCC covered by outside brick wall . However I notice that there is seepage of water from outside into the sump in few places(I tested this by storing water around the sump at the site ground level. as well as during rainy days). We did injection grouting at these points and now I see that there is no seepage in the wall area. But still there is seepage in the sump floor. How to address this issue?. Did any of you encounter/heard similar issue?. In general, how to handle water seepage in RCC sumps?

Normally the seepages appear in teh RCC sumps at the corners. Strange if it appears along the wall. The RCC wall is as good as any concrete slab on the roof. If the concrete is in the right proportion, there is very little chance for leakage. @ the slab floor, chipping & reinforcing addidtional concrete should work. Is the sump waterproof plastered already??? 'coz this too solves the problem.

Cement Plastering has been completed and he added water proof liquid of smaller quantity. Is there any other additional work that needs to be done?.
