The ARTI biomas digester looks like Do It Yourself project and bulky which may suit villages. But the one made by Synode looks very compact and professional.

Of course, there could be various brands and methods of implementation.

As per ARTI, their Compact Balcony Model generates Bio-Gas for max 20 Mins/day. Whereas Synod claims up to 2 hours/day.
Every product will have its pro's and Con's and cost factor.

Same way a Gujarat Based Mansukhbhai (www.mitticool.in) is making eco-friendly Refrigerators made of natural clay which doesn't need electricity and stores perishable items like Veg/Fruits for 2 - 3 days in good conditions. Same product is sold by various online agencies ranging from Rs. 2k to Rs. 5K.

My primary intention is to spread awareness among urban people about eco-friendly methods & Natural way of Recycling wastes. Not to promote any particular Company.

Hi msn1270 :) ,

I know very well your intention and very much appreciate it. Without your post I wouldn't have looked up the net for kitchen waste bio gas generators. I found out from net that quite a lot of work has been done towards this for the past many years and we are ignorant about it. The Govt., also could popularise such non conventional mode of energy in cities so that the burden on gas companies can be reduced. More than that just think how much of garbage can be converted into useful gas. If this is popularised, a time may also come where people would collect garbage from outside their houses (If it is available !). Now it is my intention to look for such a bio-gas generator for my house.

My comments were for discussion purpose and to keep the topic active so that more and more members would get interested in it. The discussion then would spread outside forum also which would make more and more people to switch to kitchen waste bio-gas generators, at least as a stand by, like we use induction stoves . In future also I welcome such information which would benefit the forum members and the general public.

The leftover in the Bio gas chamber is a very good organic manure which can be used for Garden.

Benefits of Biogas:

1. No waiting period for the LPG cylinder or follow up with agencies.
2. Our Garbage contribution to the city will be reduced.
3. We will get a very good Organic manure for our garden

@ pvr59ksl,

Please go ahead and use it and share your experience. By the way how much quantity of organic material is required to generate 2 hours of gas?

Thanks,
Yash

Hi yashmys :) ,

I came to know about the bio-gas generator from msn1270. I am yet to fully study the various models and their efficiency. Right now I am constructing my home and only after its completion I would like to buy it. Hence right now I don't have any idea about the quantity of kitcher waste to produce 2 hours of gas.

Thinking of it, I realise that if everybody adopts it, it is going to reduce the carbon in the atmosphere. While burning fossil fuels we are taking the carbon from deep beneath the earth and polluting the atmosphere. Whereas this bio fuel is recycling the existing carbon in the atmosphere. Plants take the carbon in the atmosphere and store it in their body and fruits. We are generating gas out of these plants and their fruits. When this gas is burnt the same carbon goes back to the atmosphere which is again used by the plants. A continuous cycle takes place and no extra carbon is added to the atmosphere.

As per the article, 1/2 kg Kitchen waste(Lemon, Moosambi,Orange kind of acidic nature items not to be used)
is good enough to generate that gas. Also mentioned, feeding is not mandatory everyday. I feel, any house
having 3-4 members easily generate this quantity at least every alternate day.

we can ask our neighbour/ vegetable vendor with whom we regularly take vegetables to share thier vegetable waste. I belive they would be happy to share it which benefits both :)
