A question on the normal practice. We are pouring the concrete for the roof this friday. My contractor was telling me that the normal practice is that the owner will arrange the food for the gang that works (sort of like a goodwill gesture).

I don't really have a problem with this, as the amount is small (around 2000). However, want to check if this is something that is normally practiced or unique to me?

I did the same for both my ground floor and first floor moulding. It came to around 2K.

Check with contractor - mine said the workers come from afar and usually bring their own food (I saw some bringing infants and food for them).
I ended up paying cash for each at the end of the day. Usually gangman (leader) will have an idea as contractors 'outsource' mould work

After completing my onsite assignment i am back.

Plastering work in in progress both internal and external wall. Plumbing work completed with Ashirwad and Sanitary work with Supreme. With around 45 Days left. I have asked the contract to go on full wing.
Activities happening in parallel - Window shutters, Main door work, Grill work.
Next steps- Down select tiles & bedroom doors during the weekend.

With festival around the corner availability of labour is one concern.

Glad to hear about your progress. Was worried since there were no updates from you for a while. Please keep the photos coming and godspeed for the rest of the construction.

Hi Martin,

Good to see your progress,

Take a look or revisit on Plumbing/Water connection & Electical connections once again,so that during Plastering work you can make additional arrangement or can be removed if not required. So that later you don't need to cut the wall.

Check the drawings once again & check everything inside the House & outside whether all the required connections are in place.

Good to see the progress. The 45 days that you mentioned - do you mean the rest of the work is supposed to complete in this time period?

Congrats Martin Sir! That is a good and fast progress in the construction in 5 months. Great to see all the pictures. Just a question out of curiosity. The material specification states that brick will be used. But the picture shows solid blocks. Why was this changed?

Thankyou krikks , Chida_gs, krishnakumar, shriram.

@ Chida_gs - With regards to plumbing we have almost covered the locations where the pipes and sanitary lines will pass. But with Electrical its been ongoing since we come up with new ideas luckily the contractor and electrical guy has bee accommodating. Since we have made few changes from the original plan. its been continuously evolving. Eg: We had a cut out in the ground floor slab 7 x 12. but now we are planning to close that after lots of feedback. but we know at sometime we need to finalize all requirements and move towards giving final touches.

@shriram - In the agreement we had Bricks/Solid blocks. We finally went for solid blocks due to speed of construction.

Visited the gate and railings fabricator work is almost 70% completed. he will fit this buy early next week. For the first floor balcony i have glass with the railing in the elevation plan. he suggested to go with mesh there, however after looking at the finishing i decided to go with glass.
