I went to Royal timbers for the teak for my house. They are located in Gangenahalli - near UAS. I don't seem to have the number off hand, but they were good. The quality of teak supplied - everyone has been praising it. My doors look gorgeous and the wood was fully cured and cut pretty close to size, so I did not have much wastage (although they did add some charges for cutting).
This was 2 years ago (I am giving the price only as a reference) - rs. 2000/cft.

Good to hear that! Also the prices are sky rocketing, and i think it is only in Cities.
One of my friend who is constructing a house in his village in TN, informed me that Burma teak is costing Rs.2500 (for cut pieces) and about Rs.2000 for log there.

Thanks. Can you please explain what is difference of getting the cut wood piece and cutting from the logs apart from the cost difference.
how did size of log differs in price from 2800 to 3500 ?. Is it on thickness or on quality of material?

Note that price of teak log is lower than the price of the cut pieces
as with the log there is a certain amount of wastage is involved.
Of course, even these "wastage" can be used for beading or some
other purposes.

If the log is good i.e., less cracks, no holes in the centre and if there are no black portion called 'karpam' , then the wastage from the log is very less(around 3%) as the rest are useful for some or the other. So selection of the log by experienced carpenter is very important. Otherwise wastage could go high
