How to get copy of Registered Doc from sub-registrar's offic

Hi,
I want to obtain a copy of a registered mortgage document from Banashankari sub-registrar office. I have the document number with me. I called up a copule of lawyers but they dont deal with this. Any pointers/help on whom to contact for obtaining a copy ?
If I go directly to the Banashankari sub-registrar office and talk to the local middlemen would that be faster and effective ? Since I dont know Kannada, its a handicap to apply for a copy myself.

Go to sub-registrar office and get hold of some peon or some office guys there. Pay him the fees along with a max of 150-200 Rs. Thats all. Yes, if you knew Kannada , it would have been just 100
