TMT purchase and decision-prime gold

Post by baruc2003 »

Hi all,
I went in purchase of TMT rods for foundation and got prices from various shops. currently i could source rods from range of 44.xx-50k per ton.

the cheapest which I saw in that locality (hennur cross - jakkur) is azaad for 44.8k per ton and highest was tata for around 50k. others - meenakshi 46.3k, prime gold 47k, gopala thermex 47k(felt it's costly) sunvik (frgt it's 47k or 50.8k may be 47k. however it's not worth 50.8k)
I went and took quotations from various shops for a mixture of rods. according to my selection the total weight came to around 1.42 ton in generous calculation.
This is where the dealers make profit. some may quote 1-3k less per ton and give more in weight while measuring. I went by no of rods to find the truth.
some shops gave weight as 1.42 tons, some gave 1.325 tons, some gave 1.306 tons. (i understand that some rods have different weights but we can consider same brand with same weight with minute variations.). Finally i settled with one shop whom i found reliable and wholesale dealer for cement as well. He had some certificates like premium dealer for acc cement, bharathi cement. I got good prices for them also. I chose that dealer as the number of rods increased per ton. he quoted 1.322 tons. find below weights for prime gold in blue pen compared to standard weights(we get more rods per ton).

I got the final price of 47k per ton with no cheating on weights and free transport.

Let me know if I paid more and some suggestions.
thanks,
Bharath

If you are purchasing TMT , refer to respective companies website and there it will be mentioned there that what sized rod wil weigh how much. And then calculate for 1 bundle and see if the shop is genuine.:

Ex: Indus 8mm 20ft rod weighs around 4.78-4.8 kg so a bundle of 10 should weigh somewhere around 47.8kg -48kg and not more than that.(http://www.indussteels.com/Products.html)

Hi vpbs_bak,
If you need contact of the dealer here it is... 9448585239. His name is Azmath. Right now steel price is thousand rupees more due to election time.. Do your homework to search a better shop for cheap and nearby shop. And I'm not paying any charges for delivery as the site is less than 2kms from the shop.
Thanks,
Bharath
