Issues with Cauvery water connection to our house

Post by Brinda »

Our house is a 40 year old house. We have been receiving Cauvery water through our water line which runs across the road and connects to the main Cauvery line laid by BBMP/BWSSB which is opposite to our house. Ours is also the house which taps into the last point on the line. This connection has been functional for the last 40 years. However over the recent times, since our house connection is the last point on the line, they (BWSSB )say it has a tendency to get blocked/ clogged. Hence over the last few years we have been suffering an acute shortage of Cauvery water to our house.
Our neighbor's however receive a copious amount of water every time BWSSB leaves water. Currently our only option is to tap our water line from our neighbor's point which is diagonally opposite to our house. BWSSB has washed off their hands and is refusing to take on the burden and responsibility of cutting the road and ensuring that the water connection to our house is established again.
Can anyone here advice and recommend a good licensed BWSSB plumber who would do a good job at getting the necessary permissions from BBMP for road cutting ,and fitting the new line without charging us heftily.
Would be forever grateful. This problem has been plaguing us for over three years now. And the unfortunate thing is that it is only our house which has been effected by this in our entire street.

Brinda, two things here. A good plumber and road cutting cost. Firstly try visiting bbmp office and enquire on road cutting cost,it depends on bbmp zone and officials there. You should get fair idea. Don't go blindly to contractors. They will charge you hefty amount if they realize that you don't have much idea on road cutting charges.

Hello Rashmi,
Another thing, don’t we need BWSSBs permission as well ?

Simple solution. Just ask your waterman to do it all and tell him that you will give the what ever charges are applicable. He will do it. Honestly speaking this has became a mafia.. no one will respond.. only going in this way will work. even they want that only

We asked a plumber living near by , he tried to clear the block but was not very successful. He tried to create a suction force using a pump and tried to clear the block it didn’t work.

Please try once with bwwsb Jetters(lorry) which is used for drainage block clearance. Try with them mostly this will be helpful. I had same blockage issue got resolved by getting bwssb jetter to my place and get the block cleared in just 5-10mins. But if the blockage is in main line then nothing can be done but consult bwwsb to clear the blockage. Contact yout near bwwsb office for resolution & fix.
