chain steps look very nice, and using water form sunken slabs is good idea too.

We started checking for window grills as we have decided to go for upvc windows. In market you get 2 type of window grill rods.

MS rods and MS bright. Both in hexagonal as well as in circular shape. We contacted several fabricators and came to know that MS bright rods are the best and generally have a price difference of 5-10 rs per kg. MS rods are low quality rods preferred by rented house constructions.

A week back when we had asked for quotation, we were quoted 115 rs per kg of MS bright 12 mm rods. If material supplied, labour to be 40 RS per kg.

Another vendor quoted 120 Rs per kg. Another vendor said he only works on square feet and quoted 200 rs per sq,however we need to check the conversion.

We also checked our steel vendors (bhima steels ) and they quoted 75 rs per kg of cut rods (as per measurements) . Remember fabricator will also take the wastage materials if you provide the steel. So our vendor told us that they will provide cut steel rods as per measurements without wastage charges at 75 rs per kg. However they only supply hexagonal rods and not circular rods. Hence we have decided to check all quotations once again and go with referred fabricator only as quality also matters.

We are at similar stage. We plan to use MS hex for grill along with upvc windows. hex rods will be supported by L bars at both end and additional 1" plates in the middle, where the width is more. Wondering if L-shaped bar at both ends be good enough to support the hex barks for large windows?

ALmost decided to go with Veka for windows.

Are you sure on hexagonal grills ? I understand everyone have different taste, but just asking any particular reason why hex rods were choosen instead of circular rods. Our engineer suggested not to go for hex rod s drilling hex shape holes won't come properly. If it's for rented house, then no issue. If it's for own house , do check on window grills in real (if any one else have done it ) and then make a decision .

Btw we had casually checked on veka upvc windows. There are concept of 2 , 2.5, 3 in upvc windows . Upvc windows with 2 glass sliding pane with mosquito mat is considered 2.5 layer upvc window. I was quoted rates of 360 for plane 2 layer and 470 for 2.5 layer window. Need to cross check again in market. But since it will be the last one to install we have not checked in detail.

just wanted to have little less regular shape than circular. not sure which drilling are you referring to?

A query related to fixing rods. Do you plan to put them directly on the wall through drilling? or have them screwed on the upvc frames?

We are in fix. If grills are put on to wall , we can't remove mosquito mat . Mestri and family members are against putting grills outside.

MS RODS can be bent i.e. with right tools anyone can bend these rods, bright rods cannot be bent it has to be cut. for ground floor always we should go for bright rods for safety even if rented better going for bright rods for all windows, not much cost difference,

framed mosquito mesh with 2.5 channel will make it work. Thout would mean additional expense though.

How can we remove the framed mosquito mesh when grills are put inside ?. We have not researched much here. We are also planning to put openable upvc windows in some places. If grills are inside how do we put mosquito frames. Any inputs are welcome.
