Concealed or hidden beams

Post by Nagendra_81 »

Planning on doing a Parking+3 floor construction. Is it safe to conceal the beams, i.e align the beams along with the ceiling to a large extent .. atleast for the parking floor.. ?
The idea is to have a relatively low height for the parking floor, so am trying to avoid the beams which would usually take away an extra ~1.5 feet of height.

Thanks.

It is possible. The right way to decide, is to do a structural analysis. There are softwares available for the same..

Hi, Nagendra
Doing slab with out beams projecting down is possible but the slab thickness will increase . Column positioning is very important to rest the whole slab on concealed beams.
The cost of construction will go high since the steel quantity will be 50% higher. There are different slab types to reduce the beam depths
1. Flat slab
2. Joist slab
3. waffle slab
You can use any one method.
