Cracks in new teak wood frame

Post by Stars »

Hi members,

When we visited the construction site today, we noticed a couple of vascals with cracks.( Contractor has used teak for main door and white sal for internal door frames).

Please let me Know if this is a major issue.
Should I talk to my contractor regarding this.

I have attached a photo of the cracks seen in teak main door frame.

Please give your opinion so that I can talk to my contractor.

If it is teak, it could be an issue..

But from a looks perspective, it is not a big deal. You can fill it with wood filler (mara vajra) etc and give two coats of polish + epoxy and it will look wonderful

This might have happened because wood is not seasoned well. Crack may further develop even after filling and polish.

Hi ,
Wood cracks while it gets dried, it happens more when it dries suddenly. We do come up with these issues more frequently when the wood is just cut from log and used immediately.
Don't need to panic , it can be filled with metal paste , wood powder and then covered up in polish.

Hi,

But still don't accept this frames from contractor.
You are paying and ensure you get the quality material. If we compromise like this they will continue to provide low quality material.

Repair work is always not perfect, in the summer season if the heat is more on that Frames then the filler get hardened and show the Gaps.
