could you please help me on septic tank construction for new House.
there is no sanitary line in the Layout, all the houses have dug up a pit for septic tank.
my contractor is telling to dig 12 feet deep pit in front of the house. with Concrete Rings. is this good thing ?
i have read that such thing will pollute ground water. and planning to go for sintex septic tank.

enquired about supreme safe guard septic tank. per litre 16 rs.
and 3000-5000 lts would be sufficient. costs around 1Lakh for 5000 liters (80000+15000 for digging)
sintex septic tank costs(27/- per liter)
concrete rings comes around 30000.
and people are telling in about 6 months to 1 year - sanitary lines will be laid.

Septic Tank is normal in some areas where the sanitary lines are not yet done.
But ensure, the pit must be at least 30 ft away from the ground water sources like Bore well/open well/rainwater harvesting point..etc.

Hi Lakshmiji,
In areas where there is no under ground drain system is available you need to go for own or colony common soak pit. The sad part is that govt never give any technical support online for the same,till swachh bharat abhiyan started. Now you can find the basic guidelines here, Pg 28 to 33

If the whole layout is ready to invest money you can get the under ground drain done for your layout with a bigger common soak pit , later part bwssb sanitary lines will be connected direct from soak pit.
Two pit system is always safe and easy while clearing the pits. In urban sites we need to depend on septic tank sluge clearing agencies once in 6 to 12 months depending up on the usage .
