Current drawn by borewell submersible pump

Hello,

We are using a 2 HP submersible pump (Sharp point PGD27) for pumping water from our borewell (~400ft depth). We recently noticed that the pump is drawing 16AMP current, which seems to be on the higher side. I checked with the vendor and he states that upto 16AMP current is acceptable.

Does anybody have any experience in this matter? We are concerned that the pump is working too hard and will eventually fail.

To understand the typical current usage, could members kindly share the current drawn by their pump?
