THE HINDU -30.05.2009
BANGALORE: The BDA on Friday got a shot in the arm when the High Court modified a stay it had granted earlier against the formation of three layouts on 6,999 acres of land.
The layouts — K.C. Reddy, S. Nijalingappa and D. Devaraj Urs — are located between Varthur and Gunjur of Bangalore East taluk. The State Cabinet had in 2008 approved the layouts. The BDA had earmarked 2,134 acres for K.C. Reddy Layout, 2,806 acres for S. Nijalingappa Layout and 1, 976 acres for D. Devaraj Urs Layout. A single judge had sometime ago stayed the formation of the layouts after several multinational companies and business groups challenged the acquisition, saying that they were allotted parts of the land for developing an integrated township, including software parks.Justice Mohan Shantangouder on Friday modified the order permitting the BDA to go ahead with the project, excluding the land given to the companies.
