Re: House construction in 30x40 Site

This is basically a question of trust, Mr Hegde. Generally people avoid using architects on design and build as they themselves would be giving the specs and then quoting for it so there is the chance that integrity is compromised. But generally I have seen architects and engineers who are professio...

Re: Plan for 30X50 East facing site

Lot of thought seems to have gone into this, but my comments are as under: 1. Staircase in the front setback is definitely not allowed. Unless this is in some unregulated part of bangalore, it wont be allowed. 2. Main entry at GF is uninteresting and should be changed. Plan at GF is also too monoton...

Re: NEED GOOD CONTRACTOR TO CONSTRUCT MY HOUSE

My advise would be to look for a contractor who is also a qualified engineer or architect. You will end up not only saving money ultimately but get a home, not a house!
All the best!

Re: Honeycombing, how bad is this

The corner column will fail. Would suggest its better to remove the concrete there and 1/3rd the span both sides and re-concrete with Nitobond at the edges with set concrete. Cannot comment on the slab but it looks bad too, though it could be addressed with microconcreting. A site visit by a profess...

Re: exposed brick for house

I would suggest you can go for good quality terracotta facade tiles that are availalbe in the market, instead of using wire cut bricks. Reason being the quality of labor does not do justice to wire cut bricks nowadays, and the facade tiles after plastering willnot result in moisture absorption and g...

Re: Construction Cost

Obviously, most important is hiring your architect and contractor. go with someone who matches your wavelength and the scale of your construction. Choose the contractor after a background check and seeing the quality of his construction. Keep in mind, that it is not always the contractors fault if a...

Re: Construction Cost

While the general costs for the construction is around 1300 - 1500 sft there are many ways to control costs and be environmentally conscious too and also have long term energy savings by using the right materials, fluid design and employing the right architects and contractors. There are many altern...

Mr Praveen is right. However, it makes sense to build on your own with maybe independent units and then you can either rent out or sell

Re: Mini Apartment/Builder Floor Apartment

This totally depends on your requirements and how you plan to utlize the spaces. How manyunits you want, whether an independent floor with a duplex? the area you are looking at can be developed very well.
