Re: Water in Foundation Pit

Hi!

There is nothing to panic about the water in your foundation pits. But it looks like the sub-soil is clay. You have to bring it to the notice of your structural engineer and foundation need to be accordingly designed.

Re: Our House construction experience

Hi ravivasudeva!

Connecting the compound columns to main building's plinth beam will not help in retaining the earth. I posted my view to you on 1st October for which you had replied. Please, please, please take care of construction. Never hurry up certain works.

Regards.

Re: Our House construction experience

Hi Mr.Ravivasudeva! Please never do civil works in a haste. The earth filling need to be executed layer by layer. You can fill up loose soil to a maximum extent of one foot depth, then you have to do proper consolidation either by watering or by mechanical means or by both. You need to repeat this p...

Re: Recommended height for front entrance gate (MS Steel)?

Hi!

If the gate has enclosures then minimum 7'0" should be the height. If not, a minimum of 5'6" is required. It all depends on the compound height, portico or fixed grill height above the gate, the vehicle you possess etc.,

Re: Earth Filling

Hi!

Foundation in clay needs special care. Best way is to take your structural engineer personally to the site.

Hi tendlu!

SSM or BBM is fine, provided you are taking care for the drain slab support.

Re: SSM required for front gating area

Hi tendlu!

Since it is almost the last stage of work, you can do it either with left over bricks or with left over size stones. Take care for the placement of drain covering in front of the gate.

Re: Help required to analyze the contractor's commission

Hi! Saying "commission" may not be an appropriate word for these type of works. India's No.1 construction group also undertakes work on this method. It is known as "Actual Cost Plus Works" and charges levied are termed as liasioning charges. I had executed works for even corporates on this method of...

Re: SSM required for front gating area

Hi!

Doing SSM below the gate, purely depends on the level difference between the road in front of the gate and the area just inside the gate. If more filling is there then SSM is required or else, BBM is enough.

Regards.
